So I have to think of something to say
about myself. Well... I've always been creative. When I
was younger I favoured fine art. Then I favoured boys and
clubbing and big hair. Finally I came to my senses and
ditched the big hair look and took to my camera. At first
my images were family orientated, and on advice from my
girlfriends was told I should do the photography thing
for real. The idea of doing something that I love for the
rest of my life and getting paid for it seemed quite cool.
I thought to myself 'hey, I can do this!' So my first step
into the field was to get educated
Easier said than done with two small
boys underfoot, and many who know me will tell you, 'She
tries hard but...' However, my problems were solved when
I found out Perth Central Tafe took on part time night
classes. Recently and much to my disgust, I was told that
I will be remembered that first year for staying behind
after class and cleaning up! Wonderful!!! No mention of
the quality of work, endless hours of study (does anyone
else memorise in the shower?), or the fanatical drive that
sends my family and friends over the edge and frequently
to the bar...
As a full time student nothing much has
changed, I still blather about, am regarded as the loud,
weird and the sometimes serious one. What a mix!!! Is that
mix a good thing?
Well it doesn't matter, what matters
is that I'm still passionate about photography.
Thank you to the Site Unseen
committee who are such a dedicated crew, your efforts are
greatly appreciated and don't go unnoticed.
Special thanks go to the lecturers and
staff at Central, who had to put up with so much Shaireen
stuff, you guys are awesome and you know who you are and
the course wouldn't be the success that it is without you.
This last year at Central Tafe has beena huge one. I've
had fantastic opportunities and I feel privileged to be
able to have experienced so much. And now on and into the
future...
